Excellent mixing breakdown. Awesome song as well 👌
when an ai algorithm can prevent the phasing when stacking altered versions of the same take, THAT will be amazing.
This can do that. You just have to use different voices or different notes. Phasing is not possible in that context. -Justin
By the way, being mostly into acoustic instruments, I also use automation to get rid of some guitar squeaks very efficiently and naturally, instead of using a deesser or any other tool
Waw!!!!!I really have to thank you for this great video. I am a real amateur in the sense that i just do this for my own pleasure, not for any costumer, and I have never learned any of this. I just always did what I thought was right instinctively. But I have always done this exact level of automation in my mixes, setting a rough starting point and then doing each instrument/track at a time, one by one, adding automation all through the song, sometimes debating about microadjustments as little as 0.2 dB adjustments, trying to enhance different parts of the track to make it shine when it needs to, and as you said, attracting the listener's focus to where I want in some particular moments. And I am just amazed that you expressed exactly the same things that i have always done, thus validating what I was doing, when I really thought I was a real OCD freak... Thank you again.
Thanks for all these precious advices. I wonder what you would advise for mixing less commercial music like jazz , boss nova, etc, which is more my kind of music.
Great video!! I found an offer for a pair of used A7Vs just under 1 year old for 800€ in total, but I was told that the Evo Alpha twins are far better, have you ever tried them? What do you think?
Wow! Now let’s get this website converted to a plugin 😮
Wait I made it to the part of the video where you discuss this lol that makes perfect sense.
What's the point in talking without showing ?... Waste of 20 min
I guess you’ve never heard of podcasts before, and don’t listen to any? We have a ton of videos with examples. This is not that.
I guess that you are trying to be funny when you are not .... If it's a podcast don't put it as a video on RUclips ... If it's a video show how to do things instead of just talking
I love a good vocoder but this sounds really really bad
There is a lot of music out there. I think it may increase. I can’t wait to hear it all
Is this plugin useable in a live situation? Is the latency low enough for live?
No, there is quite a bit of latency. It’s not intended for live use according to baby audio
@@zechs5079 Ok thanks for the info
If we start looking at Ai as a tool rather than competition. I think we could really benefit from it. There’s Ofcourse people who may use it as a crutch, but if you’re an artist who sharpens their sword. This adds to the arsenal of tools to create . Especially if you’re independent.
Very disappointed that the lowest latency setting is 2,313 samples so this cannot be used live in real-time. I hope Baby can fix this and get it under 128 samples. Was very excited about this until I found that out.
Wanted to reply quickly here as well. We hear you! At the current latency, Humanoid is actually still lower than similar plugins in their regular modes (i.e. non-low latency modes). So for mixing / production, we believe it's at an acceptable level. Humanoid's main purpose is for mixing/production. And we definitely recommend that you try the demo first if you want to use it live! Having said that: One thing on the drawing board for us right now is to see if we can make a proper live-mode so the plugin can be used by singers in realtime. Hopefully we can bring that out with one of the next updates! Until then you will hopefully see a use for Humanoid as a mix tool at least :) That's the main purpose of the plugin.
@SonicScoop , have you tried any Hifiman headphones? Sound-wise great, probably not for mixing/mastering, But for general enjoyment. They do look whacky
I’ve been chatting with Signe, one of the co-founders of Audimee, about this melodyne(ish) feature and its future uses. They have a lot planned and it’s exciting to see what the potential is for vocal editing and similar workflows going forward. Everything is a tool.
100% agree. Acoustic treatment is worth so so much more than anything else. It can cost 3-5k to do it right in a medium-small studio. But i waited way way too long to just bite the bullet and put gik bass traps and ceiling clouds everywhere
I’m waiting for a plugin or service where AI can pitch correct in real time for live vocals
There are a handful of great audio mixing channels on YT. But yours is simply the best! Thank you!!
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you are liking what's here. Remember to subscribe and hit notifications to see more videos like these in your feed. -Justin
Al software download link pls
https:/:audimee.com but it’s browser based because it has to connect to cloud computing. It’s not a download.
How did you manage to pass the YT copyright police with this video?
Almost all artists allow their tracks on RUclips. They just keep the as revenue. There are just a few exceptions that don’t allow their music to be played, such as The Eagles and The Beatles. That said, if anything qualifies as fair use, this would. I could dispute it. But why bother?
@@SonicScoop Aah I see… Thank you for the explanation.
Melodyne does the same and even better (each note length, attack, vibrato and other things detailed editing). So Audimee just offers the very limited version of Melodyne. And there is no any AI touch in this new editing tool.
Nope, wrong, sorry :-) Melodyne is an more powerful tool for fine vocal tuning, duh. But that’s not the point. The point is that this allows you to radically reharmonize parts with extreme vocal retuning, with NO TUNING ARTIFACTS. Melodyne isn’t going to allow you to change your pitch by a 5th or a 9th or a 13th and have it sound just as natural as if you were tuning by a half step. THAT is the breakthrough here. Pay attention! :-D
@@SonicScoop Now I've read your pinned comment. At last haha))) Sorry for disturbing . Now I understand. Thank you.

We have you covered for that too ruclips.net/user/liveJr8OtTONQNw?si=Rtq9HiltySRp8g1N
Muse has always been about the dramatic (but cool). A mix between Queen and Phantom of the Opera.
Quick Listen Bounce between 9:07 and 10:39 CLA. Amazing video. The difference after listening to CLA's mix is unreal.
Hi. great advices! i am worried about hearing loss. How can i know my headphones are too loud? well obviously my ears hurt but is there a way to measure decibels or something to know when my headphones are just too loud
There is only one device I know of that does this. A little pricey, but it can be super useful, especially for professional touring musicians. www.sensaphonics.com/products/db-check-pro
@@SonicScoop Looks nice! but yes very pricey indeed. How does pro mixing engineers balance the volume in phones. Is the only way, "if your ears hurt it is too loud"
your face looks green screened unto your body
Well that’s a first. Are you high or something? You sir, are an odd bird.

If you people that make these A.i, product and equipment information videos, just stop talking so much, you'll get more subscribers. I know someone has taught you to talk for 2 plus minutes in the beginning of your videos and during the video's stop and give unnecessary information, but that doesn't work anymore. We just want you to get to the point, and we will subscribe, like and watch all of your videos. Thanks for the information.
I don’t make videos for short attention span people. I try to attract an audience who likes to understand things deeply. If that’s not for you, that’s ok.
Such a GREAT video!! ❤
Michael McDonald right there haha so cool, I like this used in a subtle way for sure..
Manuplator by polyverse is the same?
It looks like it has some similar functions, but not completely. You could possibly put them in the same general category of effects, but “same thing”? Doesn’t look like it.
Can you load wave tables into manipulator?
Albini was a quasi pedophile who openly supported and wrote an article for his convicted pedophile friend who published an underground pro-pedo magazine. I discourage anyone from celebrating the “genius”’of someone who was on record being quoted as even being remotely pro-pedophile.
Cla's worst mixes are light years ahead of mine..... 😂

They’re the Kali Audio IN series.
Have you tried Humanoid? What do you like to do with it? Big thanks to Baby Audio for supporting this channel. Get a special discounted intro price on Humanoid at babyaud.io
Why is he using a pop filter lol
To reduce plosives? Plosives are not impossible with dynamic mics. Some headbasket designs reduce more than others. -Justin
But it increase🤣
He didn't even through a high pass filter on. You don't see many zoom calls with a pop filter is all I'm saying.
I could have lived without hearing that James Brown material 😅 But I suppose I’m wiser for it? LOL This was a great roundup of some of CLA’s stuff. Definitely learned some helpful things and picked up a few ideas from the head-to-head comparisons. He’s mixed a lot of records I didn’t know was his work. Thanks!
👉🏾At 28:12, that song sounded like the band, "The Prodigy." 🙄 🙄 🙄
Sick, in a positive way
Dear people who are commenting before watching the video! 😄No, this is not about pitch correction, and it is not about generating vocals from text and MIDI. It's also not about simply tuning a vocal and then running it through a voice changer. (That is all old tech at this point.) This video is about being able to radically reharmonize good vocal performances without tuning artifacts. I also understand that some people believe that AI is going to destroy the world. Got it. While the chance of this occurring is not 0%, the world will probably not be destroyed by a vocal processor that allows you to reharmonize vocals and change their timbre. Take a breath, people! (At least that percentage of people who are feverishly commenting before watching the video or understanding what it’s about.) To everyone else: thanks for watching! I love having you here 😊 Also: if you like what you see, and want to subscribe, you can get a 20% discount at audimee.com with coupon code SonicScoop Thanks to those guys for supporting the channel. I wouldn’t accept support from just any AI company. Only those whose tools I think actually be used in interesting, ethical, and creative ways. There have been many requests, and only two I have accepted. And the two that I have accepted are much more creative enhancement tools for actual musicians, rather than tools that seek to replace musicians. I’m not interested in the latter. I’m interested in tools that allow creative, musical people to be more creative and more musical.
"While the chance of this occurring is not 0%, the world will probably not be destroyed by a vocal processor that allows you to reharmonize vocals and change their timbre." But imagine if it did. That is one heck of a dystopian movie idea. Move over, Idiocracy!
You DO know everyone uses melodyne (aka "the pitch editor) before using voice changers, right?
@@GizzyDillespee Right, but the whole point is that this is NOT THAT. This is not pitching a vocal by a 5th, or a 9th, getting weird tuning artifacts and then running it through a voice changer with those artifacts, where you will get an output with artifacts, based on an input with tuning artifacts. Instead, the tuner interacts with the voice changer. Instead of pitching the vocal and running the artifacted version through the voice changer, you effectively have a tool that is *telling the voice changer to sing a different note*. VERY different, in both premise and result. I get that this shift is subtle enough to miss the concept the first time you hear about it, but it is significant. It's what seems like a small change that has BIG implications, I think. I hope that helps! -Justin
Wait... We're expected to watch the video before forming an opinion? This reeks of common sense and reason. Ha. Great video.
No, it doesn’t have to be this job destroying thing except it’s kind of sort of absolutely destroying jobs and things for people. If you’re established, you’re good if you’re not you’re not unless you’re better than everyone combined and charge almost nothing for your work..
I just don’t see a processor that allows you to reharmonize vocals and change their timbre as the death knell for jobs in music. Not all AIs are the same. -Justin
You are like the people on top of the skyscrapers in “Independence Day”, welcoming the aliens, before being obliterated. Very naive.
A vocal processor that allows you to reharmonize vocals and change their timbre is going to obliterate mankind?
@@SonicScoop It takes part in destroying the craft and world of music making that you and I have been working in. One plug-in will let you skip hiring a singer, another will let you skip hiring a mixer. And some plugins will let you skip the whole chain of artists from the composer to the mastering engineer. I don’t see a way to stop it, I just find it strange to see you celebrate one of these destructive programs. Of course it’s possible to use it in a creative way, but we both know it will mainly be used to cut out yet another human element of music. It is so sad that I don’t have words for it. I have enjoyed many of your earlier videos about mixing, though, so thanks for that.
FYI: when you switch screens the audio cuts out. I don't remember that happening in past episodes, but I noticed it here and in the Steve Albini episode. Not sure if you're doing something new here. It's not a big deal, but just letting you know in case you were unaware.
Yes, I noticed that in this episode. I think it was a glitch in one of the updates of my webcam software, but I think the latest update has fixed it again. Thanks!
Justin, I am so grateful for this series. Each part has been incredible. Member Question: I know recently you've been pondering ways to spice up the frequency of Q&A and Mix Critique sessions. What if we did one month of Q&A, one month of where members can submit music like this for analysis (perhaps with a limit of 2 or 3 songs), and then a third month of member mix critique. This format is so amazing. But similar to when I sent you those Audioslave tracks during the last Q&A, there are so many things I'm curious to get your take on that don't get mentioned in these episodes - despite how amazing they already are. Food for thought, I'd be curious to hear what you think about this. That said, I'm so grateful for this series, and the time you take to put these playlists together. Thank you so much bud, take care.
